Leadership

Defined:

Leadership is simple, it is the act of a stepping up to take responsibility for other people and then to guide them towards success. You are not only responsible for your self, but for everyone that you are leading as well. Their success is based on your ability to lead them.

"No leader can get to far ahead of his followers"

-Eleanor Roosevelt

Reflection:

Growing up I always understood leadership to be a physical act of standing up in front of a group of people and helping them to be successful. But after watching my artifact over a TED talk given by Drew Dudley, my opinion was completly changed. He talked about being an everyday leader. Never once in his speech did he tell people that you have to change the world in order to be a successful leader. Instead he told a simple story about how one little occurance completely changed someones life forever. This video showed me that I can be a leader every single day. If I reach out to one person everyday I could potentially lead them in a positive way that could change their lives.

That being said I now have a better understanding of what true leadership is. Leadership is not based on how many organizations we are presidents of or how many inspirational speeaches that we give. Instead it is about the people that we impact and our ability to impact people on a daily basis.
