Communication
Defined:
Communication is the ability to understand who people are through the things that they say and the way that they talk to others. If we have good communication skills we will be better equipt to connect with others and talk with them verbally.
Reflection:
Communication is one of the most important assets that you need when working in the business field. On several occasions we as business men and women will be required to talk with people of higher authority, our colleges, potential business investors, etc. If we are not confident in our ability to communicate with these types of people we will struggle to be successful at our jobs or even in getting a job in the first place.
My artifact shows an example of a time when I used my communication skills to connect with one of my professors. I had to step out of my comfort zone and go meet with my professor face to face. On the day of our meeting I had a lot of worries and concerns, but once I was in there everything came naturally and I knew exactly what to say. I was nervous at first but I conquered my worries and had a professional conversation with my professor about how I could be successful in her class, and after this meeting I felt like I had a much stronger relationship with communicating through email and in person in a professional setting.
Although communication with people that I have never met before is not my strongest quality, I do realize that it is something well worth working on. If I can improve my ability to communicate with people that I have never met before, I will open the door for my self for many new opportunities to aid me along my way to becoming a successful business women and person.

Life Experiences:
#1- As a freshmen in college, my Business 101 professor strongly encouraged our class to attend the business career fair at our school. My initial thoughts were how am I supposed to know what to say, what do I wear, who do I talk too? But when the time came I got dressed, pulled together my courage and set out to push my limits and build up my communication skills. It was really intimidating at first trying to find people who would give me a chance and talk with me about their company’s opportunities. At first I had no words to say and I was afraid of failure, but by the end I was able to communicate with the people around me. This was my first true step toward becoming a better business communicator.
